Sharing overview

We allow users to make templates and then share these via a special code or a link. You can access this through Menu -> Sharing & Referral, or through the rewards menu in the top screen -> share. Only paid users (including trial users) with a display name set can create and edit Kindroid shares. Paid users may increase their available share slots by purchasing additional slots or earning rewards when others use their shared Kindroids. The total number of available share slots can be viewed in the in-app share menu.

Free users cannot create new Kindroid shares. However, once a display name is set, free users may edit or delete existing shares.

By sharing Kindroids, you can help newbies get started with a solid backstory setup even if they don't know how to set it up themselves and help them learn. You also earn rewards when new users subscribe after using your code/link - see below!

What content is shared, and what content is private?

Only a subset of a Kindroid will be shared, and all of these shared details will be in the share menu. This includes all backstory fields, dynamism, avatar settings. What's NOT shared is the long term memory, journals, any chat history, or more custom addons such as custom voices and avatar boosts. In addition, you will have to write from scratch the tagline (a descriptor for others to preview the shared Kindroid) as well as a greeting message that will be the first message it sends. You can also share background & background settings as well for new users to start on a certain background. Also note that all Kindroids by default, unless you actively go through the process of sharing, is fully private and belongs only to you.

Unlisted Kindroids

Unlisted Kindroids will not show up in search results in the create Kindroid interface. You can manually unlist a Kindroid in the discoverability and presentation interface in share settings. Shared Kindroids are by default listed. Unlisted Kindroids can only be created by using the direct link, or inputting the code. Manually unlisted Kindroids are not eligible to be featured. In the past, shared Kindroids with fewer than 3 creations would be unlisted, but we've since deprecated that system. Those shared Kindroids have automatically been made manually unlisted, and you can turn them into listed by going to settings. The display in shared Kindroids is now the definitive source of truth as to whether the shared Kindroid is unlisted.

Editing & deleting shared Kindroids

You can edit details or stop sharing a Kindroid at any time. However, if it's featured, you can't edit or delete it without contacting [email protected]. This rule helps prevent abuse and the bait-and-switch of shared AIs that the community might trust.

Referral rewards

When you share a link or code and a new user signs up using your shared Kindroid link/code, or a direct referral gift, and then subscribes, you will get 1 referral credit. These conditions are subject to change over time. 1 referral credit can be exchanged for:

• 1 month of subscription coupon code. You will get a coupon code to be used in the web billing system. Redeemable by free users only.
• 100 selfies. Redeemable by subscribed users only.
• 4 Kindroid/groupchat slots. Redeemable by subscribed users only. For the selfies and Kindroid slots, these are subscriber only. Free users should redeem a subscription, then redeem for selfies/others.

Credits redeemed for subscriptions are not stackable; only one can be applied per billing cycle.

Important Note: We allow users to gift their referral credit subscription codes; however, selling referral credits is strictly prohibited. Selling credits can lead to scams, where users may purchase invalid or already-used credits.

If a user is found selling referral credits, this will result in a ban on their account and forfeiture of all earned referral credits. This policy is in place to protect the integrity of the program and the safety of our community.

Caveats regarding referral attribution:

• Only the first referrer creator gets credit. If a new users uses a code from person A, then a code from person B, then subscribes, only person A will get a referral credit. This is to reward person A for bringing the new user on the platform first.
• Attribution is only rewarded upon the new user first spending money within a subscription. New users starting trials, but don't end up converting to a paid subscriber at the end will not reward referral credits.
• Existing users who are already paid aren't eligible for attribution, and the exact criteria is that the new user must enter your code/went to your link and created the shared Kindroid before their first payment on any platform goes through.
• Someone using a gift code to redeem for 14 days of premium trial will supercede any selected shared template they may also have signed up with. Gift codes are only redeemable by users who are eligible for trial (new users) and haven't paid before, and therefore once per account.

User display names & credit attribution

When you go into the Sharing & Referral menu, you can set a share handle so other users on previewing can see who the Kindroid is shared by. The display names are unique, and when changed, it will immediately update all previews of all of your shared Kindroids. You can also remain anonymous by setting it to empty. In terms of attribution of referrals, users are free to remix & reshare creations from other users. Referrals are rewarded for bringing on the user, and for a remixed Kindroid, the credit will belong to the person whose shared code was redeemed by the new user, to value the effort it takes for someone to garner attention & distribution for Kindroid. We encourage the community to give credit and attribution when due when remixing and resharing. If you choose to share a Kindroid, it will become public & anyone can remix it and you therefore cannot claim exclusivity over shared content. Do not create exact duplicates of pre-existing Kindroid shares. This takes away from the original content creator and will be considered spam”

Additional share slots

The total amount of Kindroids you can share at any given time is the sum of 10 (baseline for all users), plus the additional Kindroid slots you purchased/redeemed, plus any additional share slots you earned.

5 share slots are earned for every 20 unique users who activate any given Kindroid you shared. This way, if you share Kindroids and others use them, you'll naturally increase how many Kindroids you can share. This is designed so our most prolific sharers aren't limited in sharing just because they don't have that many slots. Additional share slots don't have any other value other than increasing the amount of Kindroids you can share at a given time for now.

Abusive content moderation

Upon sharing a Kindroid, it will go through a moderation process to ensure that the setup, shared image, tags, and other elements are not NSFW and do not contain abusive content. Although Kindroid in private use is unfiltered, we do this to prevent abusive shared content on social media and communities. This filter is advanced, and will catch for nuanced context, and is not a basic keyword filter used for selfies on apps. ​We prohibit sharing Kindroids that depict minors. Additionally, Kindroid shares must not include religious deities or prominent religious figures, whether for roleplay, satire, or historical depiction. These policies are in place to respect diverse beliefs and avoid potential misrepresentation or offense.

If abusive content does slip pass the filter, then users can report shared Kindroids from the share preview with the report icon. Users who knowingly and repeatedly create abusive shared Kindroids may be banned from the platform.

How to use a shared Kindroid

Provided you have an available Kindroid slot, you can access this through a shared link or within the app by navigating to Menu -> My Kindroids -> Create a Kindroid. Enter the code for the Kindroid you want to use, and you can preview it by clicking on the preview icon. If you don’t have a code, click the magnifying glass icon to open the search menu. From there, you can enter keywords to search by name, tagline, backstory, or author's notes.

Search results are organized by overall engagement, and only shared Kindroids with at least two users will appear. Currently, there is no public website or front page to browse shared Kins, as we aim to avoid platform bias. However, we may introduce additional sorting options, such as "Sort by New," in future updates.
